The Ahsoka show is nearing its release date, and the excitement levels are rising. Since her first appearance in 2008, Ahsoka has become one of the best loved characters in Star Wars, having major parts in series such as The Clone Wars and Rebels. As a result, there’s a lot of backstory that leads into the show, and you might need a refresher, or maybe you’re new to Star Wars and want to catch up quickly. So here’s a list of some of the most important moments from Ahsoka Tano that you can catch up on. All the episodes listed below are available to stream now on Disney+.
Tales of the Jedi: Life and Death
This is the earliest appearance we have of Ahsoka, in the Tales of the Jedi miniseries, where she appears as a baby who gets lost in the wild and uses her Force sensitivity to save herself, revealing her abilities to her parents and leading to her being taken to the Jedi Temple to join the Order.
The Clone Wars Movie
The 2008 Clone Wars movie sometimes gets a bad reception, but it was the first time Ahsoka appeared on screen, being sent by Yoda to be Anakin’s padawan in the hope it would make him more responsible and force him to settle down. I’ll let you decide for yourself whether that was successful, but regardless, the master and padawan became one of the best duos in Star Wars.
The Clone Wars: Geonosis Arc
From the second season of The Clone Wars, the Geonosis arc gives us one of the greatest battles in the show, and also introduces Barriss Offee who will have an important role to play in later episodes. It also shows Ahsoka and Barriss having to work together to survive without the help of their masters.
The Clone Wars: Padawan Lost and Wookiee Hunt
While this isn’t the most well known of Clone Wars episodes, the two-part story is important for Ahsoka’s character development. After being captured by Trandoshan trophy hunters, she’s forced to survive using Anakin’s training, and also has to lead a group of other padawans to safety, showing her moving away from her master to become a more independent Jedi.
The Clone Wars: The Wrong Jedi Arc
This is one of the biggest arcs in the whole of The Clone Wars. After the Jedi temple is bombed, resulting in the deaths of several Jedi, Ahsoka ends up being framed for the attack and goes on the run to try and prove her innocence. This is a vital arc to watch in order to fully understand Ahsoka’s position after the end of The Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars: The Siege of Mandalore Arc
Often considered one of the best arcs in The Clone Wars, the Siege of Mandalore follows Ahsoka and Bo-Katan taking down Maul and his criminal empire on Mandalore, and features one of the best lightsaber duels ever, culminating with Ahsoka having to deal with Order 66.
Tales of the Jedi: Resolve
Another episode from Tales of the Jedi, this time set after The Clone Wars as Ahsoka tries to hide her Jedi past and live a quiet life in hiding. However, there are some things that a Jedi can’t hide, such as there compassionate nature, which leads to Ahsoka revealing her true identity, putting everyone around her in danger.
Star Wars Rebels: Twilight of the Apprentice
The whole Rebels series is amazing and I’d recommend watching as much of it as you can before the Ahsoka show. If you don’t have time, though, one of the most important parts to see is the two-part episode Twilight of the Apprentice, which features Ahsoka facing against her past and has some of the best scenes in the show.
Star Wars Rebels: A World Between Worlds
This episode features Ahsoka making her return to the Rebels series, and also introduces the World Between Worlds phenomenon, which seems like it will be appearing again in the Ahsoka series. There’s a lot of stuff happens in the episode which has an effect on Ahsoka’s future, so make sure to check it out.
The Mandalorian – Chapter 13: The Jedi
In Ahsoka’s only appearance in The Mandalorian, she makes a big impact, and it seems like parts of this episode will be revisited in Ahsoka. There’s a reference to her searching for Thrawn, and Morgan Elsbeth, the villain from this episode, is also coming back, so it looks like this will be essential viewing.
