A fast, fun, and entertaining movie
Note: This is a SPOILER FREE review.
Indiana Jones takes up his whip for the last time in The Dial of Destiny, and it’s a fitting way for this legend of the cinema screen to go out.
The movie manages to blend old and new perfectly, with new characters meeting old favourites, and modern effects complementing the classic style of Indy action, with the opening scenes some of the best parts of the movie. The 1960s setting meanwhile doesn’t alter the feel too much. There are great performances put in by newcomers Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Ethann Isidore, while Harrison Ford slays as always.
There’s lots of action and excitement, with plenty of chase scenes and punch ups to keep you hooked, and the movie’s many villains are all excellent. The Dial itself is probably the weakest part of the film, and isn’t the most original MacGuffin, while the central premise of the story is always just this side of believable, but in a fun way.
As for the ending, that’s emotional in more ways than one.
Whether you’re a diehard Dr. Jones fan, or more of a casual viewer, I’d recommend you go and see it as soon as possible. You’re sure to find something to enjoy!
My rating: 8/10.
