‘The Bad Batch’ Episode 13 Review

There’s not much time left for The Bad Batch to tie up all its remaining storylines, and episode thirteen brings us closer to a finale that looks like it will be epic.

There are two main things being done here. One half of the episode follows Omega as she is returned to Tantiss and subjected to more experiments, while the other follows the Batch as they find a way to rescue her, making a full circle back to the opening episodes of the season.

Both plotlines are interesting in their own way. After being Nala Se’s assistant and general helper around the lab, Omega has now been confined to the Vault, closely guarded and with less opportunities for an escape. This does hint that she might be Force sensitive, like all the other kids there. It’s been said that here blood is important because it supports midichlorians, but they do seem to treat her the same as the other test subjects, though this might just be because of her value to the project.

It doesn’t look like she’ll get much help from Emerie Karr, despite her occasional moments of doubt, and Scalder could be an even bigger problem as she seems much more officious than Karr.

On the other side of the galaxy, the Bad Batch get aboard an Imperial station above Coruscant so they can find the coordinates to Tantiss. It’s a different approach to previous missions, as they usually use infiltration rather than brazenly walking in without a care. It’s also interesting to see Rampart’s involvement in this. There’s something unique about former Imperials working with their enemies, and it’s similar to Kallus and Zeb in the Star Wars: Rebels episode ‘The Honourable Ones’. The question now is, will he be a help or a hindrance to them later? He should have no love for the Empire now, but delivering a bunch of wanted fugitives could be enough for him to receive a pardon.

This is very much a classic episode that does what tis show does best, providing some action and excitement, while not forgetting about the characters that are behind it.

There are only two more episodes to go now, and these should mainly focus on Omega’s escape from Tantiss and the fallout from that, as the Batch has a straight ride all the way to the planet. There probably won’t be much room for side quests either, as they have to wrap up not just season three, but the whole story of The Bad Batch and its characters in a satisfying way. Hopefully it will be able to do that.

Thanks for reading.
