Star Wars: The 10 Strongest Mandalorians

Mandalorians are a big part of Star Wars, and it’s easy to see why, they’re just some of the coolest characters in the galaxy. Almost indestructible armour, walking weapon arsenals, the most iconic helmets ever made, and some of the few people who can take on a Jedi or Sith and live to tell the tale. While all Mandalorians pride themselves on being the best there is, some are just the greatest, and stand helmet and shoulders above the rest.

Gar Saxon

Gar Saxon might not be anyone’s favourite Mandalorian, but he was an important one. He helped the Empire conquer his home planet and was rewarded with the position of Governor, subjecting his people to Imperial rule until he was defeated by Sabine Wren.

Axe Woves

Axe Woves is an interesting character. First he was one of Bo-Katan’s followers, then he split and stole her fleet, leading a band of Mandalorian mercenaries, and later he returned to Bo-Katan after she came into possession of the Darksaber. During the third season of The Mandalorian, when almost every character was suspected of being a spy, Axe was top of many lists. His heroic actions in the finale soon put a stop to those speculations, though.

Ursa Wren

The leader of Clan Wren, Ursa took the difficult decision to side with the Empire, leading to a split in her family when Sabine defected from the Imperial academy. After reuniting with her daughter, she became one of the central figures in Mandalore’s fight against Imperial occupation.

Fenn Rau

Originally Fenn Rau was the Protector of Concorde Dawn, leading a small group of Mandalorians on the partially destroyed moon, and aided the Empire against the Rebels. He was captured by Phoenix Cell and held as insurance so they could pass safely through his territory, eventually joining the Rebellion after the Empire destroyed the Protectors in his absence.

Paz Vizsla

As a member of House Vizsla, Paz believed he had an ancestral claim to the Darksaber, and fought Din Djarin for it. He was a devout follower of The Way, bringing up his son in The Tribe. His final act made him a hero, worthy of remembrance in the songs of Mandalore, as he gave his life holding back Imperial forces so the rest of the covert could escape.

Pre Vizsla

As the leader of Death Watch, Pre Vizsla was one of the many Mandalorian warriors who wanted to take over Mandalore, hoping to restore its military past after Duchess Satine’s pacifist policies. While he might have been morally questionable, there’s no denying he was a brave and strong fighter, dueling Obi Wan and Maul on separate occasions, and putting up a valiant effort against the Force users.

The Armorer

There was a time when it seemed that the entire Mando fandom was against the Armorer. Almost everyone suspected her of being a spy working for Gideon in the final episodes of The Mandalorian season three. Thankfully, it turned out that she wasn’t (as far as we know) and she could continue to lead The Tribe as they worked to rebuild their devastated planet.

Sabine Wren

Sabine might be a little unconventional for a Mandalorian, with her love of spray painting everything she can get her hands on, but she’s still a great fighter. She was original a star student at the Imperial academy, but left and joined the Rebels after the Empire had her built a superweapon that was used against Mandalore, which led to her becoming estranged from her family.

Din Djarin

He might not be the most powerful warrior there is. Particularly early on, Din often makes mistakes and is only saved by the strength of his Beskar armour, but he has a lot of other qualities that make him a true Mandalorian, such as his devotion to his foundling Grogu. He’s also one of the few Mandos who doesn’t want to be leader, willingly handing over the Darksaber to Bo-Katan so she can become ruler of Mandalore.

Bo-Katan Kryze

During The Clone Wars, Bo-Katan was one of Pre Vizsla’s lieutenants in Death Watch. She quit Mandalore when Maul came to power, going to the Republic for help with retaking her planet. She fought a near constant war with the Empire for the next two decades, losing her followers and the Darksaber, before she was able to reclaim both and finally unite the Mandalorian factions against Moff Gideon.
