If you’re going to be a successful pirate, you need a good ship. The same is true if you want to hunt pirates. As a result, Pirates of the Caribbean has a fleet of memorable vessels to choose from.
The Dying Gull
It’s not what you would call a ‘great ship’, but it does what it needs to and provided Jack Sparrow with a vessel when he needed it most, to try and find Posiedon’s Trident. It might be dying, but it’s not dead yet.
Edinburgh Trader
It’s not so much the ship that’s special, but rather its crew. When Davy Jones discovers Will Turner has stolen the key to his chest, he sends the Kraken to hunt him down. Unfortunately, Will has been rescued by the Edinburgh Trader, a small merchant vessel, which leads to the Kraken attacking the ship. The crew put up a brave fight, put are no match for the terrifying sea creature.
Hai Peng
In order to rescue Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones’ Locker, Barbossa, Will, and Elizabeth are in need of a ship to get them there and turn to Sao Feng for help. Despite his hatred of Jack, Feng gives them one of his ships, the Hai Peng. The vessel meets its demise after plummeting over the edge of the world to get to the Locker.
HMS Dauntless
Commodor Norrington’s flagship, and one of the most impressive ships in the Caribbean. It briefly comes under the command of Captain Jack Sparrow when he steals it as a ruse to get hold of the Interceptor.
HMS Interceptor
Purported to be the fastest ship in the Caribbean, the Interceptor is the perfect vessel for a pirate, and is “borrowed” by Jack Sparrow as he chases down The Black Pearl. Sadly, the ship would end up at the bottom of the ocean after an encounter with Barbossa and his crew.
Silent Mary
This really is a terrifying ship. After Salazar got himself shipwrecked in the Bermuda Triangle, he and his crew turned into ghost pirates, attacking any unfortunate ships that came their way, the Silent Mary’s bows opening up to swallow her prey.
HMS Endeavour
Lord Cutler Beckett’s three-decker, 100 gunner is one of the biggest ships available to him and the East India Trading Company, and is an effective weapon in Beckett’s fight against piracy. When put up against Jack Sparrow, though, maybe it isn’t so impressive, as he manages to bring down one of the Endeavour’s masts while escaping from the ship.
Queen Anne’s Revenge
If you’re one of the most successful pirates ever, you need a cool ship, and they don’t come much cooler than the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Not only can this famous ship shoot fire from its bows, Blackbeard can also sail it using his magical sword.
The Flying Dutchman
Think about it. You’re just minding your own business, pirating your way across the sea, when suddenly from out of the waves emerges a ship. It’s covered in coral and seaweed, and crewed by a group of fishmen who’re covered in tentacles, shells, and sharks heads. For many sailors, this would be the last thing they saw as Davy Jones and his crew sent them down to the Locker.
The Black Pearl
The iconic ship which has two captains, Hector Barbossa and Jack Sparrow. The ship has been through a lot, including being set on fire and sunk by Cutler Beckett, raised from the sea by Davy Jones, sent to the Locker by the Kraken, and then being put in a bottle by Blackbeard. It also happens to be one of the fastest ships in the world.
